Hi there,

Do you know Skate4AIR?

Skate4AIR is a fundraising project that supports research and development activities aiming to increase life expectation and quality of life of people diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis (also referred to as 'CF'). I got to know Skate4AIR through the Skate4AIR clinic on speed skating on ice. The stories told during the clinic by people having CF really got to me. Can you imagine that at some point in time you are not able to breath freely?

When doing sports, it is essential you are able to breath freely to soak up the necessary oxygen from the air. Isn't it great to connect a personal sport challenge to such a fantastic fundraising project?

So what's that personal sport challenge all about?

Participants of Skate4AIR will skate on ice for 200km on the Austrian lake called the "Weissensee" to raise funds. Although I do not have a solid background in speed skating on ice as yet, I have signed up for this sport event and I am going to do my utmost to raise funds and follow a disciplined training schedule to bring this challenge to successful end!

Does it take a few days to finish?

No, it is a one-day event. You need to do it in one day. It will probably take me over 10 hours to skate the 200km. Starting in the early morning with a light on my helmet as it still dark by then. And likewise, I will probably finish when it is getting dark in the evening. Weather conditions may be challenging from minus 10 degrees Celsius, snow and wind. On the other hand, I might be lucky with great ice conditions, some sunshine and mild temperatures around zero degree Celsius.

Do you think I can do this?

Yes? Well, then I am kindly asking you to support me in this challenge by donating to Skate4AIR.

No? Then the Skate4AIR project definitely needs your support!

With warm regards,

Eduard
